Overview of Treatments offered by Stuart at Core

Biomechanics / orthotics (insoles)

A biomechanics assessment and custom-made orthotics (shoe insert insoles) achieve on-going results in the treatment of knee, foot, hip and back pain. We often recommend a biomechanics assessment with a podiatrist and custom orthotics to be used in conjunction with chiropractic / osteopathy / physiotherapy for maximum benefit.
As well as treating existing pain problems, custom orthotics are very effective at helping to prevent pain and injury problems and improve sports performance.

Shockwave Therapy (Radial)

Radial Shockwave Therapy is a series of energetic shockwaves applied to the area that needs treatment. A shockwave is a purely mechanical wave, not an electric one. The treatment initiates an inflammation-like condition (pro-flamatory) in the tissue that is being treated. The body responds by increasing the blood circulation and metabolism in the impact area which in turn accelerates the body’s own healing processes. The shockwaves break down injured tissue and calcifications.

The treatment “offers two main advantages over traditional surgical methods: fewer potential complications and a faster return to normal activity.” FDA

Shockwave therapy is clinically proven to work on soft tissue pain, where other chronic pain treatments have failed (ASSERT audit) with a 77 to 91 % success rate. The treatment is:
– Non Invasive
– No Medication
– No Surgery
– NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) approved

Shockwave therapy is especially beneficial for: Heel, Achilles, Hamstring, Hip, Elbow and Shoulder Pain.

Prolotherapy is an injection-based reconstruction treatment which uses natural substances to trigger a proliferation of healthy new connective tissue in a joint space or into damaged ligament/tendons (stimulating the body’s natural healing process). The treatment is used extensively by GPs and physicians in many countries.

The treatment uses:
– No Steroids
– No Surgery
– Is proven “Extremely Safe” (Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine- based on half million procedures)

Suitable for a wide range of acute or chronic pain treatments.

Ostenil Plus

Ostenil Plus Injections are suitable for osteoarthritis of the knees, ankle joints and big toes.
Hyaluronic Acid is already present in joints, but is reduced in these type of cases, so people experience pain. Ostenil Plus is a natural lubricant (Hyaluronic Acid) that works biomechanically as a shock absorber and biochemically by blocking pain receptors.
