WARWICK
Chiropractor-Led Clinic
Chiropractors are experts in biomechanics and neurology. They understand how problems like pain, restricted movement, pins and needles and numbness can be caused and successfully treated.
At Core Clinics, our chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain including back pain.
Many people associate chiropractors with back pain and neck pain and, indeed, they do have particular expertise in these areas. But chiropractors can also help with a whole range of biomechanical complaints and musculoskeletal aches and pain.
Unsure which treatment is best for you? Check our suggestions for which clinician we recommend for your first appointment here or contact us.
What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is an evidence-based regulated primary healthcare profession
Chiropractic is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. Chiropractors are highly-trained regulated healthcare professionals who typically study for 5 years (post-graduate level) and have particular expertise in the treatment of conditions including back pain, knee pain, hip pain, joint pain and headaches of muscular origin.
At Core Clinics, our chiropractors specialise in the treatment of chronic (long term or recurring) conditions including lower back pain (including patients with disc hernias/disc degeneration), chronic headaches and migraines. We also specialise in supporting sportspeople in recovering from injury, reducing the risk of injury, and optimising their sporting performance.
- Non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical treatment
- Chiropractic is proven to be very safe
- Evidence-based treatment with proven benefits
- Treatment is generally comfortable and pain-free

What does a chiropractor do?
Chiropractors assess, diagnose, and treat a range of musculoskeletal problems
Prior to recommending any treatment programme, your chiropractor will always complete a comprehensive consultation and assessment covering your health status and history; current and past symptoms and issues; your health concerns and priorities, and thorough physical, functional and neurological tests. Our chiropractors take a holistic whole-body / whole-person approach, taking into account the overall function of your neuromusculoskeletal system as well as your nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, any underlying medical conditions, and your lifestyle.
Based on the results of your consultation and assessment, your chiropractor will give you a detailed account of their findings, and diagnostic information that explains not only what your condition or issues are but also why you are experiencing these problems. They will then go on to explain what your treatment options are and the likely outcomes, benefits, and any potential risks or side-effects that might be associated with your different treatment options. Our chiropractors also advise their patients on self-care options including exercise and recommend bespoke care packages tailored to each patient’s individual needs involving practitioners within Core Clinics or externally where appropriate.

Our Chriopractic Treatment
If following your initial assessment your chiropractor advises that chiropractic treatment is suitable for you and you wish to process with a treatment plan, what can you expect?
Treatment visits typically involve your chiropractor using a variety of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including manual manipulation or ‘adjustments’ of the spine and other joints in the body, hand-held tools (activators, massagers etc.), acupuncture and soft tissue treatment.
After your initial consultation, treatment (which will usually start on your second visit) can generally be given while you are fully clothed.

Safety and effectiveness
Research evidence shows that chiropractic is a very safe, low-risk form of treatment.
Side-effects – such as muscular aches – are generally mild and short-lived and far from being a cause for concern, they are actually a sign that the body is responding well to treatment. Your chiropractor will explain to you in detail any potential risks or likely side-effects that you may experience to ensure that you are fully informed. There is an increasingly strong evidence base for the use of chiropractic in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, and it is specifically recommended by NICE (National Institute of Health & Care Excellence) for the treatment of lower back pain. The evidence is particularly compelling for the use of chiropractic in combination with other therapies (including talking therapies and exercise) and self-care (which your chiropractor will advise you about).

CHIROPRACTIC
Frequently asked questions
Our health and wellness centre is a holistic clinic where clinicians and therapists with different skillsets work together to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. Medical clinics typically focus more on conditions and symptoms, which might be treated with pharmaceuticals or surgical interventions. Alternative and complimentary health clinics typically take a holistic approach to client care, seeking to address underlying causes of symptoms such as stress, poor nutrition, or psychological issues. There is typically more evidence for medical interventions than for complementary healthcare – but that doesn’t mean that complementary treatments can’t be effective – it can just mean that nobody has funded research. In our clinic we seek to combine the best of care for which there is high quality evidence, delivered by regulated healthcare professionals, with complementary healthcare modalities, which support patients’ overall wellbeing.
